Henderson County Mayor Discussed Parks Grant at Rotary

Henderson County Mayor Robbie McCready discussed plans for a new park near Westover School, at the Lexington Rotary Club meeting, January 17th.

Henderson County is one of several local communities applying for the Tennessee Local Parks Fund and Recreation Grants. Those grants require a 50-50 match.

As part of the grant application process, the government agencies must hold two public hearings and meet with two civic groups to discuss their plans.

“We are looking at putting a playground out west in Henderson County,” McCready said. “We have a playground out east at Darden Park which has been very successful.”

The county is looking at spending $300,000 on the new park, which will also be American Disability Act compliant. “The location I am looking at is next to Westover Elementary,” McCready said.
