Sardis Board Approves CMFO Training

The Sardis City Board approved paying for a part-time employee to receive training as a Certified Municipal Finance Officer, during its regular session September 6, 2022.
The board also approved the reappointment of Richard Holland as Vice-Mayor and Wayne Scott as City Recorder.
During the board’s session, aldermen unanimously gave their approval for Jessica Smith to take a course to become a Certified Municipal Finance Officer. Currently the city contracts that position, according to Vice-Mayor Richard Holland. The Tennessee Comptroller’s office would like the city to have someone in that position. Currently the University of Tennessee is waiving the registration fee for the course.
The cost would be $110 for 12 classes that would be completed over a year. Smith was originally hired part-time to read water meters but…
