LMS Ends Season With Win Over Rival

The LMS Minutemen football team took to the field for their last game of the season this past Thursday evening, October 1. The team hit the road to travel east to take on the Decatur County Middle School Panthers to wrap up the 2020 season. Wanting to end the season on a high note, Lexington Middle did just that. The Minutemen were able to take care of business and came back home with another win, defeating the Panthers 22-14.
Decatur County received the opening kickoff to start the game. A fired-up Minutemen defense was ready for the challenge. A few plays into the drive, the Minutemen defense stiffened the Panthers on a 3rd down play causing a fumble and giving the Minutemen the ball at midfield to start their first drive.
A 10-play drive behind strong running by Arnold, Scott, and Beers was capped off by a 3-yard score on a run up the middle by Scott. Beers added the 2-point conversion and Lexington led 8-0. DCMS answered the Lexington’s score a few plays later, and their 2-point attempt was good. The score at the end of the 1st quarter was all tied up, 8-8.
