Henderson County School Board Offers to Negotiate with Decatur County Schools

The Henderson County School Board met a week early on March 7th to consider a proposal from the Decatur County School System in regard to their students who attend schools in the Scotts Hill area. The full board was in session with Tommy Gordon (Chair), Jeff Camper, Daniel Lewis, Dennis Ray McDaniel, David Leslie, Bobby Herrington, and Steve Crownover. The Decatur County School Board proposed that there be no out of county tuition for the 155 students within the current zones for Scotts Hill, but to keep the tuition in place for all others outside of that zone. Several of the school board members said that they have a responsibility to taxpayers in Henderson County to levy tuition for out of county students.
