McCready, Atkinson, Cavness Win Republican Primary

Incumbent Robbie McCready won the Republican Primary for Henderson County Mayor with 1,976 votes on Tuesday, May 5th beating out four challengers.
McCready won 38.68 percent of the vote. Jacob Feehan has 1,066 votes, Darren McDaniel had 820 votes, Shelly Aldexander received 754 votes, and Gary Riffle had 492 votes.
A total of 5,293 voted were cast in the election. McCready will now face independent challenger, Blake Mitchell in the August General election. Mitchell will be the only independent candidate running for a county office in August.
Brad Atkinson won the race for Henderson County Sheriff to replace long-time incumbent Brian Duke. Duke had announced his upcoming retirement as Sheriff in 2024. Duke did win a seat on the Henderson County Commission.
Atkinson is a Tennessee Highway Patrolman who finished second against Duke in the 2022 election. Atkinson received 2,526 votes. Chief Deputy Larry Stegall finished second with 1,127 votes. Richard King had 874 votes, Tracey Grisham received 623 votes, and Terry Moody, Sr. had 95 votes.
In the County Trustee race, John Cavness won re-election with 3,149 votes. Challenger Mark Montgomery had 1,933 votes.
Running unopposed for General Sessions/Circuit Court Clerk, Beverly Dunaway received 4,701 votes. County Clerk Tasha Carver received 4,754 votes and Doug Bartholomew received 4,701 votes in their re-election.
