A project that started to as an idea to bring a little color and beauty to businesses around the court square is growing.
“It started last year with nine planters,” Community Bank President Phillip Renfroe said. Then it grew to 12 and now the project has 21 planters.
“We hope to have 40 next year,” Renfroe said. Renfroe has had plenty of help with the project. Reece Blair, Nancy Hudson Blair, several members of the Madison County Master Gardeners, and local Future Farmers of America helped with the project. Steve Pirtle has been busy keeping them watered during the 100 degree weather.
Local businesses and residents have helped by sponsoring planters.
The 2022 sponsors are: Community Bank, Carter Law Office, Carnal Roberts Agency, Reeves Brothers Trucking, Lexington Discount Drugs, Davis’ Clothing, Pafford Funeral Home, Barger Construction, FirstBank, Crye-Leike Perferred Realty, Susan Crook Bunch, A Close Bonding Co., LLC, Joe and Debbie Franklin, the Mary Lou Davis Family, West Tennessee Gym and Cheer Academy, Gift Garden, Helms Motor Company, Laura C. Cole and Company, Lexington High School BYMS, and the Anderson Family.

I’m so thankful to see someone else taking pride in our community! In earlier days, I used to travel through parts of Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky, and West Tennessee on business. I could always tell when the residents of a town, or small city had pride in the appearance of their surroundings. There was an extra effort displayed in the welcoming atmosphere of their community. My “Hats off” to those going the extra mile in the care, and appearance of our town. With all the traffic passing through Lexington, I’m sure both our visitors, and our local residents will notice the care devoted to the appearance of our hometown! THANK YOU TO THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS BEAUTIFICATION ADDITION!
