Student Anglers Going to Nationals

The West Tennessee Student Bass Trail held a fishing tournament on June 11, 2022, at Birdsong Marina. It was a beautiful day for the youth to be out on the water fishing, if you overlooked the heat. The West Tennessee Student Bass Trail is affiliated with the SAF (Student Angler Federation), which started high school and college fishing. The WTSBT and SAF are a part of the TBF (The Bass Federation).

The high school division winners were Braden Wilson and Ross Wilson, from Scotts Hill who won 1st place. 2nd place went to Luke Herrington and Christopher Miller from Riverside.

The junior division winners were 1st place – Landon Kelly and Parker Smith (Brownsville/Jackson), 2nd place – Lloyd Moore and Hayden Ramsey (Medon). They also won 3rd place overall. 3rd place went to Mason McClintock and Trey Burgess (Jackson).

All anglers who placed, received awards and trophies in the event, but no one left empty handed. The other anglers who participated received a package along with their captains. Half the teams were unsuccessful bringing in fish, but they still had smiles on their faces while comparing stories. The heat might have been a factor for them, but the rest seemed to overcome their obstacles or just had the right spots to…
