Lady Tigers Victorious in First Game of Spring Fling

The Lexington High School Lady Tigers softball team made their way to Middle Tennessee on Tuesday morning, May 24, in preparation for their first game of the TSSAA Spring Fling State Tournament. Their opponent that the Lady Tigers would face would be Soddy Daisy. Lexington got out to a good start in the game with an early lead and then saw their lead diminish before claiming the walk-off victory over Soddy Daisy to win the game, 3-2.

This win kept the Lady Tigers in the winner’s bracket and also had Lexington in control of their own destiny.

The game started with Lexington scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. Neither team would score until the top of the sixth inning when Soddy Daisy tied things up with two runs of their own. Then, in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Tigers would score one run to take the win in walk-off fashion over Soddy Daisy.

In the circle for the Lady Tigers was Cadey McDaniel. She pitched the entire seven innings of play. McDaniel allowed two runs on four hits, while walking one batter. She would strike out ten batters she faced as well. McDaniel was credited with the win for Lexington.

At the plate, Lexington was led by Kennedy Brown. She finished 2 for 4, with one RBI. That RBI came to be the winning run the Lady Tigers needed to stay in the winner’s bracket. Shay Hollingsworth went 1 for 3, with…
