In the Lady Tigers softball team’s quest to make it back to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the state tournament, Lexington was faced with taking on South Gibson on Monday evening, May 16, 2022. This game was played at the Henderson County Sportsplex and was part of the Class 3A Regional Tournament. Lexington was dominant per usual and had their way with the Lady Hornets on the day. The final score of the contest, which got the Lady Tigers one step closer to Murfreesboro, was 9-0 as Lexington won in shutout fashion.
Lexington brought their best effort on the day and the pitching staff of the Lady Tigers only allowed one hit throughout the entire contest. Lexington High School scored their first run in the bottom of the first inning and then added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Neither team would record any runs in the third inning. The Lady Tigers added one run in each of the bottom half of the fourth and fifth innings, before plating three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lexington held South Gibson scoreless in the top of the seventh inning to take the victory and move on in the tournament.
Cadey McDaniel, a senior pitcher for Lexington, had another very impressive outing in the game for the Lady Tigers. McDaniel tossed the full seven innings of play and only allowed one hit and issued one walk. She struck out two batters and did not give up a single run. McDaniel got the win for the Lexington High School Lady Tigers softball team.
At the plate, Kyrsten Brown led the Lady Tigers. She finished 3 for 3, with two RBIs. Marley Maness went 3 for 4, collecting four RBIs. Shay Hollingsworth was 2 for 4 with an RBI, as well. Kylie Waldrep ended 1 for 3 on the day and Kennedy Brown finished…
