The special guest speaker for the May 10, 2022, meeting of the Lexington Rotary Club was Jillian Harden, who gave a presentation on Unity Hospice.
She has been with Unity since December, and in healthcare for over twenty years. Since coming on board, it has been her mission to increase awareness. Unity is located behind Food Giant, and Dr. Henderson is on the board.
Many people don’t fully understand the opportunities and advantages of hospice, but it surrounds the quality of life and service in a patient’s last months and remaining days. The family can focus on the good and allow Unity to deal with the pain and problems. Sometimes the services can go beyond six months, and it is often helpful to look into the service early enough so that the family member can help with the decision making.
