LHS Softball Grabs Two More Wins Over Rivals

The Lexington High School Lady Tigers softball team held its home opener last Tuesday, March 29 against their bordering county rival, the Lady Panthers of Riverside High School. Lexington received a team that was hungry for a win on the Lady Tigers field. Ultimately, it would be Lexington that kept their record unblemished with grabbing the victory over Riverside. The final score of that game was 4-2.
Riverside would get things started by striking first. The Lady Panthers scored one run in the top of the first inning. Lexington answered immediately with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Panthers would then take another lead by scoring one run in the top of the fourth inning. Then, Lexington took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and did not allow Riverside to catch back up.
The Brown twins, Kennedy and Kyrsten, each finished 2 for 2 in the game. Kennedy Brown collected an RBI as well. Both Marley Maness and Jadyn Yarbro were each 1 for 3 against Riverside. Shay Hollingsworth recorded an RBI for the Lady Tigers, also. Jadyn Yarbro would hit for a double in the game and Kyrsten Brown had a single and a double.
