Lexington Softball Off To an Amazing Start

The Lexington High School Lady Tigers softball team got the season underway last week with two consecutive wins in back-to-back days. Lexington was looking to keep riding that momentum as the team traveled to Florence, Alabama this past weekend to compete in the Florence Tournament. The Lady Tigers would play in three games while there and come back with three more wins, to make their record 5-0, in starting this softball season.
LHS Softball would face Ardmore, Lexington (Alabama), and Brooks High School. As with the first two games, these contests were of the same nature. All three games resulted in wins for the Lady Tigers.
Their first game of the tournament, Lexington’s opponent was Ardmore. This game was the Lady Tigers toughest game of the tournament. After playing five innings, it would be the Lady Tigers that took the win, 8-5.
The Lady Tigers scored one run each in the top of the second and third innings. Then, Lexington would add five more in the top of the fifth inning, and seal things away with one run in the top of the fifth inning. The Lady Tigers gave up two runs in both the bottom half of the first and second innings, and then another run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Shay Hollingsworth led the team, going 2 or 2 in the game. Hollingsworth scored two runs and collected two RBIs, as well. Both Mykenzi Duke and Cadey McDaniel each went 2 for 3. Duke collected an RBI also. Duke would score a run for the Lady Tigers, too. Marley Maness went 1 for 2 and…
