Sunday, February 27, 2022, was an earmark day in Lexington as UFC Hall of Famer Royce Gracie came to Borras Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a seminar. Jorge Borras, owner and operator, said that Gracie just loves to visit Lexington, and that this is his fourth trip. Borras Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is located at 584 East Church Street.
In researching the origins of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, sites say that the history of art goes back through the Gracie family to their original teacher, Mitsuyo Maeda and his training in the Kodokan Judo Institute, Tokyo, Japan, the home of Judo.
