Lady Tigers Season Comes To a Close with Loss

In a must win game for the Lexington High School Lady Tigers basketball team last Friday night, February 25, the team knew it would have to bring a high-quality game against a very good opponent. Lexington made their way to South Side High School in Jackson, Tennessee and went up against the host school, the South Side Lady Hawks. South Side has produced an impressive squad over the recent years and this year’s team was no different. The Lady Tigers played hard and did their best but, in the end, South Side was too much for Lexington and defeated the Lady Tigers. The final score of the contest was 55-28.

Lexington started the game in a slower fashion than the team had hoped for. The Lady Tigers were only able to score three points in the first quarter of play. South Side rattled off 12 points in the opening quarter. LHS then came back in the second quarter and recorded seven more points. The Lady Hawks kept their foot on the gas and added another 17 points to their side of the scoreboard before halftime. After the break, Lexington came out in the third quarter and produced nine points and allowed South Side to score the same number of points as well. The fourth quarter saw the Lady Tigers finish with seven points and South Side was able to score 17 more points and took the win.
