Planning Commission Reviews Transitional Housing Draft Amendment

The Lexington Municipal-Regional Planning Commission met on Monday evening, September 13, 2021. At the July 12, 2021, Planning Commission meeting, the regional planner, Shelton Merrell, was asked to draft an amendment ordinance that would permit transitional residential housing as uses permitted on appeal in M-2 zoning districts for discussion purposes.

This item concerns transitional housing for a work project for the formerly incarcerated by Jim Terry for Dwayne’s Metal Coatings. He has an area near the industrial facility to set up housing.

Merrell presented a draft definition of transitional residential housing for section 1, and a draft for section 2, uses permissible on appeal as a new number 12.
