Big Red Tigers Take Loss Against Tomcats

Lexington High School football came off a big win against Liberty last week and was looking to take that momentum into this past week’s game against Haywood County. The Tigers hosted the Tomcats this past Friday night, September 10 at Lexington High School. LHS wasn’t able to find the endzone against Haywood County and came way with the loss. The final score of the game was 16-0.
LHS now has a record of 1-3, with their solo win coming against the Liberty Crusaders. The Tigers will look to get back in the win column again this week, as they are set to host the McNairy County Bobcats at Tiger Stadium this Friday night, September 17, 2021. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
On the offensive side of the ball, Lexington had 191 yards of passing offense. Ethan Jowers finished the contest 13 of 24 for the 191 passing yards. Jowers did not record a touchdown or an interception against Haywood County. In the run game, the Tigers were led by Isiah McClaine. He had 13 attempts for 11 yards. Deandre Weathers carried the ball twice for -6 yards and Jowers finished in the stat book with four attempts for -31 yards. Lexington struggled up front to keep the defensive line of Haywood County at bay, which resulted in the tough night for the rushing game for the Tigers.
