Lady Tigers Soccer Season Underway

The fierce Lady Tigers Lexington High School soccer team had a strong preseason start. While the Lady Tigers led the first half, 1-0, at the first home scrimmage against Madison Academic, the final score ended with a tough loss, 2-1. Hailey Hudgens scored the goal for Lexington.

In the next two preseason games, LHS finished on top with two wins. One win was against their hometown rival, SHHS, with a 3-0 sweep. Hailey Hudgens scored two goals and Jasmine Finch scored one goal for the Lady Tigers. Lexington had a 6-0 win over Augustine. Hailey Hudgens scored two goals, Jasmine Finch netted one, and Jurni Montague scored three goals for the Lady Tigers.

This boosted the Lady Tigers confidence going into the Smoky Mountain Cup Tournament held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee that the team plans to attend each year. The seniors were especially ecstatic about this trip since the trip wasn’t able to be attended last year.

The weekend was packed full of team bonding activities that surrounded the three games played on Friday night and Saturday, August 20 – 21, 2021. Friday night, the Lady Tigers played a clean and fair game against Cumberland with Hailey Hudgens scoring the one goal for the Lady Tigers in the final moment. Lexington was defeated 2-1.

On Saturday afternoon, through downpours, this determined team secured a win against McGavock. Victoria Carrington and Jurni Montague locked in the 2-1 winning score. Saturday night was a test of true grit and perseverance as the Tigers battled…
