Relay for Life Hosts 2021 Luminary Ceremony

The lights began to flicker in the Relay for Life luminary bags, highlighting the names of loved ones in the struggle against cancer.

The Luminary Ceremony was held on the south side of the Henderson County Courthouse on Saturday evening, June 26, 2021, with the opening ceremony at 8:00 p.m. and the lighting of the luminary bags at dusk. Survivors were recognized with medals and balloons and then made a walk around the grounds.

Caleb Butler and Brooke McDaniel coordinated the evening’s events, with Caleb giving the main address, and an opening prayer by Henderson County Mayor Eddie Bray. Caleb recognized the teams for this year’s event: The City of Lexington, Columbus-McKinnon, Nidec, Volvo, and Honoring Heroe’s; as well as the participating sponsors: Coca-Cola, Wilger Inc., Engineered Spray Components, and American Home Financial.
