Lexington City Board Meets

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen for Lexington met in their regular non-voting work session on Monday evening, June 21, 2021, at the Lexington Utilities Operations Facility on Maple Street.

Vice-Mayor Sandra Wood conducted the meeting. The board discussed some Animal Control issues for the city, and the need for attendance at city court.

The board discussed the first reading of the ordinance on paid holidays. As the federal government has recently added June 19th, known as Juneteenth, to the federal holidays, then Juneteenth is being considered as an option.

The board also reviewed three retail package liquor applications: 1. Jackie Wood for the Tobacco Shack at 233 East Church Street 2. Palak Patel for Beech Lake Liquor and Discount Tobacco at 534 West Church Street, and 3. Ketanhumar Patel for King’s Liquor at 15360 Highway 22 North.
