Lexington City Board Meets in Budget Work Session

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen for Lexington met in a budget work session on Monday evening, June 14, 2021.

Jeff Graves, General Manager for the Lexington Electric System presented the budget for LES. He was asked about the funding for the TVA line project from Jacks Creek to Lexington, and Graves said that those costs would be carried by TVA and not from the LES budget.

There was lengthy discussion on whether to provide for a cost of living (COLA) raise for city employees through a 2.9% increase or whether to pass it along at an hourly rate. Alderman Jack Johnson said that the percentage increase creates too much of a wage gap disparity between employees with smaller salaries and those with much higher ones.
