Lexington Falls to Forrest In Low-Scoring Affair

Continuing on in the 2021 TSSAA Spring Fling tournament, Lexington would enter their third game of tournament play on Thursday, May 27, 2021. The Lady Tigers would face the defending state champion, Forrest High School. In a battle of the two pitchers, there wouldn’t be many runs scored in this game. Ultimately, Lexington would take the defeat by a final score of 0-2.
This game would see two highly regarded pitchers in the state showcase the talent they have. Both pitchers would give their best efforts and it surely showed in this game. Neither team would score any runs in the game until the bottom of the fifth inning when Lexington allowed Forrest to score two runs. Those would ultimately be the only two runs scored in the game, and both teams went scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings.
Lexington was held to one hit in the entire game by a dominant pitching performance from Forrest. The positive at the plate for the Lady Tigers came when Lauren Hall would reach on a single in the second inning. This would be the only time that Lexington would get a hit in the game.
As for the pitching for the Lady Tigers, Cadey McDaniel would get the start. She would also have a very good performance in the game for Lexington. McDaniel allowed six hits, two walks, and struck out one while allowing the two runs. She was…
