Lady Tigers Beat Gibbs To Move Closer to Championship Game

After coming off their first loss at the state tournament, Lexington was back in action on Friday morning, May 28, 2021, as they played Gibbs to secure a spot in the TSSAA Class AA championship game. Lexington would give one valiant effort to get themselves back in the title game and try to win a state championship. With the effort that was given, the Lady Tigers would go on to defeat Gibbs, 3-1, and secure their spot in the championship game that afternoon.
Gibbs got the scoring started in the game when they plated a run in the first inning. Lexington bounced back and scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. That would be all the scoring that would be allowed by either team as both teams held each other scoreless for the duration of the contest.
The Lady Tigers would record eight hits as a team. Leading Lexington at the plate was Mykenzie Duke. Duke went 2 for 3 with two singles. Kennedy Brown was 2 for 4 in the win. Brown reached safely on two singles and collected an RBI for Lexington. Jadyn Yarbro, Marley Maness, Kylie Waldrep, and Shay Hollingsworth each went 1 for 3. All four players would record a…
