State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads Recently Hosted Two Events

Two events were recently held at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery – Parkers Crossroads; one on Satruday, May 22, 2021 and the other on Monday, May 24, 2021.

The Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery- Parkers Crossroads continues to be a vibrant and integral part of Henderson County and the surrounding communities.
Director Eddie Long said that on Saturday, May 22, 2021, various troops from the Boy Scouts of America conducted a ceremony and then prepared the cemetery for Memorial Day by the posting of the United States flag at each grave. “There is only twice a year when flags will mark the graves,” Long said, adding that the cemetery was honored to have Tennessee’s youth to participate in preparing the grounds for such an important event. “They brought specialized instruments that very precisely mark where the flags are to be set,” he said.
On Monday, May 24, 2021, motorcycle riders from across the nation arrived at the cemetery at 10:00 a.m. for another event, presenting a wreath and playing the bagpipes in honor of the veterans buried here.
