Lexington Lady Tigers Crowned Regional Champs

After coming off a big win on Monday evening, the Lady Tigers would host the #1 softball team in the state of Tennessee on Wednesday night, May 19, 2021. Lexington would welcome South Gibson to town in what would be a demanding, yet accomplishing, night for the Lady Tigers. Lexington would be in a battle to win this game to be able to host their sub-state game at home. South Gibson gave them a tough test, but Lexington would come out on top and take the win, 7-5.

This win by the Lady Tigers claimed the team a new piece of hardware on the season. Lexington was crowned the 2021 TSSAA Class AA Regional Champions.

Lexington jumped out to an early lead when the Lady Tigers scored three runs in the bottom half of the first inning. The Lady Tigers would increase their lead when they would score another three runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Lexington would allow South Gibson to jump right back in the game when the Lady Tigers allowed five runs in the top of the sixth inning. Lexington bounced back and plated another run in the bottom half of the sixth inning and held South Gibson scoreless in the top of the seventh inning to earn the win and claim the regional championship.

A familiar name for Lexington was the starting pitcher in this game. Cadey McDaniel got the nod and did not disappoint her team or the fans in attendance. McDaniel threw another complete game and hurled seven innings for Lexington. She would allow 10 hits in this game and gave up three walks.
