Lexington Softball Drops Two Games in a Row

Heading to Florence, Alabama this past weekend, the Lexington High School Lady Tigers softball team was sure to face some stiff competition. Lexington ran into that dilemma on Friday, April 16. The Lady Tigers would play two games on this day. Results for both games were the same as the Lady Tigers would not be successful in either game. Lexington took losses to Austin High School and Rogers High School.

In a low scoring game against Austin, the Lady Tigers kept battling to the end. Not many runs were scored by either team in this game. The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when Austin would plate two runs. Then, in the top of the fifth inning, Austin would score two more runs to take a 4-0 lead. Lexington would score two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning before falling to Austin High School, 4-2.

Leading the way with the bats for the Lexington in this game was Shay Hollingsworth and Mykenzi Duke. Each player would go 2 for 3 in the game. Duke had a single, a double, and an RBI. Hollingsworth would hit for two singles and an RBI. Cadey McDaniel was 1 for 2, reaching on a single. Kennedy Brown went 1 for 3 with a single in the loss.
