Lexington Softball Falls to Nolensville; Beats Smyrna

The Lady Tigers made their way into Middle Tennessee last Friday and Saturday to participate in the Brentwood Invitational. The weather was, for the most part, in their favor to have decent conditions, especially on Saturday. Lexington started out the tournament with a loss against Nolensville, 6-5, and came back to end the day with a walk-off win that night over Smyrna. The Lady Tigers won that game 4-2.
In the game against Nolensville, Lexington would score three runs to start the game, before giving up four runs in the bottom half of the first inning. The Lady Tigers would come back and score two runs in the top of the fourth inning but would allow Nolensville to score two runs in the bottom half of that inning causing them to take the loss.
Both the Brown twins went 2 for 3 in the game. Each one hit for two singles and Kyrsten scored two runs, while Kennedy crossed the plate once. Mykenzi Duke and Shay Hollingsworth were 1 for 3 each. Duke hit a homerun and collected three RBIs while Hollingsworth reached on a single and collected two RBIs in the game.
In the circle, Kailyn Melton got the nod to start the game. She would last three innings and allowed two hits. Melton walked three and struck out three. Cadey McDaniel came in and pitched one inning allowing two hits and one run. Melton was charged with the loss.
