The Lexington Progress was invited to attend a call with Dr. Lisa Piercey, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Health, on February 16, 2021, concerning the progress of the COVID-19 vaccinations in the state of Tennessee.

The new software allows eligible clients to sign up online and choose the location that you want, as well as whether you need the first or second dose. Print off the confirmation that you will receive and bring it with you; however, they can look up your confirmation if you forget the email. There will still be a phone sign up option for those who do not have access to the internet.

This process is still for the 89 rural health departments and in the next week or two then the urban areas, who wish to, will be added. Private hospitals and groups will have their own sign-up systems, this is for the Department of Health areas only.

Western and Middle Tennessee health departments have had to close due to the weather. If your appointment was affected, then you will be contacted with your new appointment time. There has also been some delay in vaccinations due to the weather, but the department is staying on top of the situation.
