After a delay in getting to play last week because of the winter snowstorm that struck the county and surrounding areas, the Lexington Lady Tigers basketball team had to wait in getting to play until Monday night, February 22, 2021. Lexington had to travel to McNairy County to face off against the Lady Bobcats in what was sure to be a fierce environment. The Lady Tigers clawed all night long and gave their best effort, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough. Lexington was defeated, 63-50, in what would be their final game of the 2021 season.
The top scorer for the Lady Tigers on the night was Jadyn Yarbro. Yarbro accounted for 14 points in the loss. Kylie Waldrep was directly behind her in scoring 13 points in the contest. Diamond Holland followed that with 9 points on the night. Makayla Herndon, the lone senior on the team playing in her final game of her high school career, would account for 5 points against McNairy County. Both Candace Butler and Sarah Simmons would each score 4 points apiece for the Lady Tigers. Rounding out the scoring for Lexington was Shay Hollingsworth, who was able to secure a point in the game.
Starting the game, Lexington was only able to score 7 points in the first quarter. The Lady Tigers found themselves scoring 4 points in the second quarter against the Lady Bobcats.
