Founded in 1914, the Hart Family Farm is located south of Highway 100 in Henderson County. James Andrew Hart and his wife, Lillie Mae Turner Hart, owned 279 acres. The family of 15 raised corn, cotton, cattle, mules, pigs, chickens, horses, hay, and vegetables. Big Hurricane Creek runs through the farm and was dredged in 1923; like the other landowners along the creek, the Harts paid for the dredging done on their land (see photo of three of the daughters on the dredging equipment).
