Drowning Reported at Beech Lake, Body Recovered

On Tuesday, July 9, Henderson County Emergency Management was on the scene at Beech Lake for a reported drowning.

Local EMA, Law Enforcement, and officials are on the scene at Beech Lake for a reported drowning, which occurred in the swimming area, around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, July 9.

According to sources, the victim is believed to be a 29-30 year old, African American male. The victim’s body was recovered after approximately a 30 minute search. A young child, age unknown, was present at the scene and also went under the surface of the water. A bystander retrieved the child and began performing CPR, before being transported by EMS. The child is believed to be make a full recovery.

When speaking to Captain Jeff Middleton, with the Lexington Police Department, he stated “Every death is investigated, but at this time the department believes there are no indications of foul play at this time.” Several bystanders were present at the time of the drowning, and attempted to aid the victim, but were unsuccessful.
