*Update*
The Henderson County Commission heard from residents, debated its budget, and to recommend a budget with no tax increase on Tuesday, June 4th.
The Commission will meet on Monday night, June 10th to vote on the first reading of the budget.
Commissioners debated a property tax rate increase ranging from four percent to 27 cents per $100 assessment, but in the end sent the budget back to the finance department to be cut and funded with no additional property tax. The commission also approved taking $400,000 in sales tax growth from the Henderson County School system so it can be used for capital improvements by all county departments.
