Traffic Diverted into Lexington During Interstate Crash

Due to a accident between two tractor trailer rigs, Lexington received heavy traffic on August 26, 2020 as vehicles were diverted into town and off Interstate 40.

Traffic was diverted into Lexington and Huntingdon from the 108 Exit at Parkers Crossroads on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 during an early morning crash between mile marker 122 and 123 on Interstate 40. Two tractor trailer rigs, one driven by Gwendolyn Silas, age 41 of Jackson, and Marcus Tennant, age 49 from Augusta, Georgia. Silas, who was driving a 2019 International, was killed in the accident while Tennant, who was driving a 2016 Volvo, was uninjured.

According to the report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Silas was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 near the end of mile marker 122 in Decatur County. Tennant’s vehicle was disabled on the shoulder.
