Festival of the Lakes Tradition Continues

The Festival of the Lakes was held on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Beech Lake, where the crowd enjoyed music from local artists, as well as the Kimberlie Helton Band.

Although social distancing was encouraged due to the COVID-19 restrictions, Lexington’s annual Festival of the Lakes tradition moved forward. Events were scaled back considerably with no pageants, cardboard boat races or BBQ cook-off, and the opening of the event was pushed to 5:00 p.m.

“Many of us feel like it is time to move forward with some sense of normalcy,” said Lexington Mayor Jeff Griggs during an earlier interview, “and many feel like we needed to continue our Festival of the Lakes tradition.” Children’s activities were sponsored by the Lexington Fire Department and the Henderson County Fire Department.
