Courthouse Christmas Tree Lighting

The traditional lighting of the Christmas Tree in Lexington was held on Friday evening, December 6, 2019, at the north side of the courthouse. Henderson County Mayor Eddie Bray said that the venue was moved from the museum to court square to help promote safety and to avoid blocking off Main Street during a heavy traffic period.
David Watts, from The Princess Theatre, gave the introduction with the invocation by Rev. Bobby Beecham. Entertainment was provided by the Lexington High School Beta Club Choir and was led by Nicki Johnson. Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand, as well as refreshments after the lighting ceremony and singing.
“Glenn McDaniel had a large part in putting together the festivities this year,” Mayor Bray said before the lighting, “and the tree was provided by Jeff Douglas and his family.” Tim’s Tree Service assisted with putting the tree in place.
