The Festival of the Lakes Fourth of July celebration continues to draw larger crowds and has become a regional event that people not only at home, but for all the surrounding counties to enjoy.
The events began at 8:30 a.m. on July 4th with final registration for the pageants (see winner’s section), and the BBQ Cook Off judging at noon, as well as judging later for the Cardboard Boat Races. There were two new events this year with the Lexington and Henderson County Fire Departments sponsoring Fire on the Lake from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. and then after the fireworks at 9:15 p.m. there was an After Party until 10:30 p.m. The Fire on the Lake activities included equipment demonstrations, live fire training for the use of fire extinguishers, and…
