Chief Doug Acred, with the Lexington Fire Department, presented the newest vehicle in the fleet to the Board of Alderman and Mayor last week. The 2018 brush truck/mini pumper “is versatile and can be used for brush or alley fires,” Acred said, “as well as being able to respond to a house fire, like a regular pumper, but smaller.” The vehicle was provided from an August 2017 grant of $178,800.00 for which the city provided a five percent match.
