Lexington Man involved in Shooting at East Pointe

According to Captain Derrick Tisdale of the Jackson Police Department, on July 5, 2018 around 4:45 a.m., Jackson police responded to a shooting at East Pointe Apartments, located at 504 Daugherty Street. Officers found a 34-year-old Lexington man who had been shot. Based on the preliminary investigation, the Lexington man arrived at East Pointe and began knocking on an apartment door. The man was an acquaintance of the people who lived there. The man made threats through the door and was warned not to try to enter. The man ignored warnings and forced entry. He was subsequently shot by a man inside the apartment. The gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, then transferred to a Memphis hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. The man who fired the shot and witnesses are cooperating with the investigation. Investigators have briefed the District Attorney. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
