A family in the 1,000 block of Old Flanagan Road suffered the loss of a barn integral to their farm operations Tuesday night. Tractors, skidder, a trailer, and a truck were scorched and burned as well. “The barn was full of hay,” said County Fire Chief Lynn Murphy. “With the weather conditions like they have been, I have been afraid that we would face a spontaneous combustion situation.” Station’s 1, 7, and 11 responded as well as tankers from Stations 2 and 6. In all, about forty firefighters responded, containing the fire to the barn involved, and saving three adjacent barns and contents.
