By 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, June 30th, when the yard sale to benefit the Frances Hensley Animal Shelter started, the day was already hot, but so was the early morning shopping. A wide variety of items had been donated, with great deals to be found all over the area at the old Fesmire Tire Center. “We raised over $400.00 for the Animal Shelter,” said shelter volunteer Lora Young. Lora, along with Christa Durfee and Kathy Hughes, were setting up the table and pop up canopy, and some extra hard work by Gary and Shirley Huckaby throughout the day, Young said. The Animal Shelter will be the special recipient from the Festival of the Lakes raffles this year. Donna Barber and Andy Anderson appeared on local television to speak about the raffle and events coming up on the July 4th Festival of the Lakes event.
