Footage by W. Clay Crook / The Lexington Progress.

Around 10:40 a.m., Tuesday, August 1st, the Lexington Fire Department responded to a call at 79 Oak Street, between Old Huntingdon Road and Highway 22 North. The McQueen family was able to exit the home, without injury, after a fire began in the garage area and began to spread to the rest of the home. Neighbors comforted the family as fire fighters brought the flames under control. The sky was streaked with a column of thick black smoke. One of the family vehicles appeared to be consumed by the fire.
