Lexington City Board Approves Budget, Lowers Property Tax

 

Mayor David Jowers congratulated the board on a good budget and the success of being able to lower the property tax rate from $1.23 per hundred to $1.2075.   Before final approval, the floor was opened to discussion on any items or amendments needed for the budget process.  Alderman Jack Johnson made a motion, which was seconded by Alderman Jeff Griggs, to raise the compensation of the City Judge’s position from $9,128.00 to $12,000.00.  The motion was approved.  Alderman Gordon Wildridge mentioned during the recent conference at Murfreesboro how critical it…
