Sardis City Board Meets

Sardis mayor, Joe Ross, and the Board of Alderman met in session at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, June 5th at the city hall building.    The financial report for the month of May was discussed, noting the allocation for the roof repair of the old city hall building.  The mayor also said that the city was in compliance with water guidelines as it had recently published the Quality Water Report in the newspaper.   The financial report was approved and the board then discussed a bid received by the mayor on repair of the old Ag building, which came in as the low bid at around $8,800.00.  This includes a metal roof, and the covering of the woodwork.  Mayor Ross noted that as the water truck and other supplies are stored there, that the expense could be halved between the General Fund and the Water Fund.   The mayor then addressed the recent rise in the electric bill at the old school building.  The ten year lease, from 2009, stipulated that…
