TVA Conducts “Health Checks” at Beech Dam

The Tennessee Valley Authority will be conducting over the water core drilling at Beech Dam starting on June 5th. This work is expected to take about 3 weeks to complete. Core samples are being collected for a geotechnical evaluation of the dam as part of an ongoing “health check” of all 49 dams in the TVA system. Visitors are reminded not to pass any floating barriers, barricades, or caution tape for their own safety. TVA will use Best Management Practices such as floating barriers or turbidity curtains to contain suspended solids to prevent these materials from interfering with local fishing.
