Memorial Day Event Held At Scotts Hill

The Scotts Hill Park was filling with cars of people who were all there to honor the people who had stood up for their country. The park was the location for American Legion Post 243 to host a Memorial Day ceremony to honor those who had ultimately given their lives in the military for the freedom and safety of the United States. The event was started with opening words by Russell Keaton, singing of the National Anthem by Penny Roberts, and then prayers. The Decatur County Mayor, Mr. Mike Creasy, spoke to the audience, saying that, “Military personnel are real heroes.” Mayor Creasy was not alone in this statement.
