County Commission Meets

During the County Commission meeting, Sam Hinson was approved as the new county attorney, to replace Chad Wood, who is now with the State Criminal Court of Appeals.

The Henderson County Commission met Monday night, January 9th, from 7:00 p.m. until about 9:15 p.m., approving the last meeting’s minutes and hearing discussion on resolutions, departments, and presentations by guest speakers.
Mayor Hughes spoke about the need for a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) resolution for the sixty acres at Parkers Crossroads.
The TIF is a first step in making a property available for developers, as it provides no increase in the property tax for the selected number of years as a developing incentive. Mayor Hughes presented a drawing of his vision of a multi-purposed arena, support buildings and parking that could evolve once the sixty acres has secured key development.
