Anniversary of the Battle of Lexington

South Main Street was quiet December 18th, but 154 years ago, the sounds of musket fire and cannon trembled houses and windows. Col. Robert Ingersoll surrendered Federal forces occupying Lexington to Gen. N.B. Forrest. The commemorative plaque is located along South Main Street at the Civic Center building.
